Therapeutic Approach
MEANINGFUL INSIGHT & APPLICABLE TOOLS
Psychotherapist’s Role
Everyone struggles at times, and each of us struggles in our own way. Whatever brings you here, my psychotherapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that it is my role and responsibility to work with you to achieve meaningful insight and appreciable benefit. Together, we work to understand you better and develop applicable tools to live more happily.
LOVE & MIND YOURSELF
Embracing Uncertainty
Whether anxiety or depression, relationships or health issues like BRCA, our concerns are as diverse as we are. While personal circumstances are unique, many of us share anxiety about the future or issues around rigid thinking, so I strive to grow clients’ capacity to be open and curious and ability to live with more calm, awe or joy.
PERSONAL PROFESSIONAL COCKTAIL
Past, Present & Future
My approach is informed by your past as we explore causality via psychodynamic psychotherapy; focuses on the present to stimulate insight, encourage mindfulness and healthy routines; and is orientated towards your future coping by use of cognitive behavioral therapy tools when appropriate.
A MODERN APPROACH TO FREUD
Psychodynamic Therapy
I have extensive training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, which helps you understand how your past experiences shape your present unconscious, impulses, feelings and behavior. This approach aims to enhance self-knowledge both to alleviate any symptoms and stimulate more joyful living.
MINDFULNESS
Mindful Living
Mindfulness helps us be aware of our thoughts, feelings and situations without automatic responses such as anxiety or judgment. By paying purposeful, nonjudgmental attention to the present we become more sensitive and accepting. Mindful psychotherapy combines the wisdom of reflection with the rigor of science to enhance functioning and quality of life.
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
Proven Techniques
CBT has been proven to be effective for a range of issues and works by changing the way you think and behave, a powerful tool for anyone to better manage stressful situations. We can use CBT to address your current problems, rather than issues from your past, and find practical ways to improve your daily state of mind.
CLIENT-THERAPIST RELATIONSHIP
Key To Effective Therapy
The client-therapist relationship is paramount. I work to establish an accepting and trusting relationship where you can talk freely and openly. It is important you feel supported and understood. If either party determines I am not the best clinician for you, I will be happy to help you find an appropriate therapist.
